DBS Law Provides Local Counsel Services Throughout Washington
Finding competent and capable local counsel can be daunting. Many attorneys are not familiar with the role and purpose of local counsel associating with out-of-state attorneys to jointly represent a client.
Our office assists in the representation of litigants within the states of Washington and Oregon. Most commonly, we act as Washington local counsel supporting out-of-state attorneys representing their clients in state and federal courts (including bankruptcy courts) throughout Washington. Typically, we file a pro hac vice motion allowing an out-of-state attorney to appear in court throughout the course of the litigation. At that point, we often monitor the case and guide out of state counsel through the procedural rules of the Washington courts. Depending on the needs of the lawsuit and out-of-state counsel, we can become involved in developing a litigation strategy, making court appearances, conducting discovery and even trying cases. In addition to assisting out-of-state counsel, we also directly represent individuals and businesses as lead counsel in Washington and Oregon civil litigation. We also can assist with the enforcement of foreign judgments (including recording liens), confirmation of arbitration awards, and assistance with foreign subpoenas. We pride ourselves in the efficient and effective representation of your clients involved in Washington litigation.
